Replacement Piston Compressor Pumps

Lubricated Belt Driven Piston Compressor Pumps

Browse replacement lubricated belt-driven piston compressor pumps from B2800 and B3800 models through to B59, B60, B70, NB7 and NB10 pump families for compatible workshop and industrial air compressors.

Replacement Compressor Pump Units

These are replacement compressor pump units rather than complete air compressors. The pump forms the compression stage and must be correctly matched to the motor, pulley ratio, mounting arrangement, rotation, receiver and pipework.

Use the existing pump reference wherever possible. Horsepower alone is not enough to confirm compatibility because pumps with a similar power requirement can differ significantly in speed, mounting and connection arrangement.

How to Select a Replacement Compressor Pump

Replacing a belt-driven piston compressor pump involves more than matching the motor horsepower. The pump must work correctly with the existing drive, receiver, controls and pipework.

Existing Pump Reference

Start with the exact model, casting or part reference from the existing pump.

Motor Power

Confirm that the existing motor is suitable for the selected pump and operating duty.

Pulley Ratio

Motor and pump pulley sizes determine pump speed and must be correctly matched.

Pump Rotation

Check the required rotation direction before installation and commissioning.

Mounting & Shaft

Compare mounting-hole centres, base size, crankshaft and pulley alignment.

Pipe Connections

Confirm outlet, unloader and associated pipework connections against the existing system.

Do not replace a compressor pump purely by matching horsepower. The pump model, speed, pulley arrangement, rotation, mounting and connections must also be suitable.

How a Lubricated Belt-Driven Piston Compressor Pump Works

A belt-driven piston pump uses an external electric motor or engine to rotate the compressor crankshaft through a pulley and belt arrangement. The pistons draw atmospheric air into the cylinders and compress it before delivering it towards the receiver.

Lubricated pumps use compressor oil within the crankcase to lubricate moving components such as bearings, crankshaft surfaces and cylinder mechanisms. The correct lubricant level and specification are therefore important to reliable operation.

Standard & PRO Low-Noise Pump Options

Standard B-Series Pumps

Standard B2800B and B3800B models are conventional lubricated belt-driven piston compressor pumps for compatible replacement and rebuild applications.

PRO Low-Noise Pumps

The B2800B PRO and B3800B PRO models provide an alternative pump configuration for compatible low-noise compressor builds. They should still be matched against the original machine and drive arrangement before ordering.

Replacement Pump Installation

Correct mechanical setup is important when fitting a replacement compressor pump. Poor belt alignment, an incorrect pulley ratio or incorrect rotation can cause premature wear or poor compressor performance.

  • Confirm the replacement pump matches the intended compressor application
  • Set the correct pulley ratio
  • Align motor and pump pulleys correctly
  • Set suitable belt tension
  • Confirm pump rotation before normal operation
  • Check the correct compressor lubricant level
  • Inspect delivery pipework and fittings
  • Confirm pressure controls and safety devices are functioning correctly
  • Refit all belt and drive guards before use
The compressor must be safely isolated and fully depressurised before replacement work. Installation should be carried out by a suitably competent person.

Pump Speed, Cooling & Pulley Selection

Belt-driven compressor pumps are designed to operate within a suitable rotational-speed range. Changing the motor pulley or pump pulley changes compressor speed, so pulley selection should not be altered without confirming the pump requirements.

Excessive speed can increase operating temperature and mechanical load, while an unsuitable drive ratio can affect delivered airflow and reliability. Cooling airflow around the pump should also remain unobstructed.

Need Help Identifying Your Existing Compressor Pump?

If the pump reference is unclear, send us the compressor and pump details before ordering. Photographs are particularly useful where older pumps or machine revisions are involved.

  • Existing pump model or casting reference
  • Compressor manufacturer and model
  • Compressor serial number
  • Motor power and speed
  • Motor and pump pulley sizes where known
  • Crankshaft dimensions where relevant
  • Photographs of the pump, mounting and drive arrangement
  • Photographs of delivery and unloader connections

Piston Compressor Pump FAQs

How many compressor pumps are shown on this page?

The current range shown on this page contains nine lubricated belt-driven piston compressor pump models.

What pump families are available?

The current range includes B2800B, B2800B PRO, B3800B, B3800B PRO, B59/B5900, B60/B6000, B70/B7000, NB7 and NB10 pump families.

Can I select a replacement compressor pump using horsepower alone?

No. Horsepower is only one part of compatibility. The pump reference, operating speed, pulley ratio, rotation, mounting, crankshaft and connection arrangement should also be checked.

What is the difference between a compressor pump and a complete air compressor?

The pump is the compression stage only. A complete air compressor also includes the motor or engine, drive system, controls, safety equipment, receiver where fitted and associated pipework.

What is the difference between the standard and PRO pumps?

The PRO models shown are alternative low-noise pump configurations for compatible compressor applications. Compatibility should still be checked against the original machine and drive arrangement.

Do I need to check the pulley ratio when replacing a compressor pump?

Yes. The motor and pump pulley sizes determine pump operating speed, so the correct pulley ratio should be confirmed before commissioning a replacement pump.

Can Compressed Air Systems UK help identify my existing compressor pump?

Yes. Provide the existing pump reference, compressor model, motor details and clear photographs of the pump, mounting, pulley and pipework arrangement where possible.

Not Sure Which Compressor Pump You Need?
