How to Choose Sealey Trim Clips & Workshop Fixings

Match the fixing by style, stem or hole size, head shape and vehicle application so panels and trim can be refitted securely without forcing the wrong clip.

Compare the old clip before ordering

A few millimetres in stem diameter, head size or engagement depth can change whether a trim clip fits correctly.

1

Keep a sample

If possible, remove one original clip without damaging it and use it as your reference.

2

Measure the important dimensions

Check the stem or hole diameter, head diameter and engagement depth rather than relying on appearance.

3

Check the vehicle/location

Bumper, door card, undertray and interior trim fixings can use different retention methods.

4

Order enough for the job

Trim clips can become brittle or damaged during removal, so allow for replacements across the complete panel.

Practical selection advice

Why trim clips can be difficult to match

Automotive and workshop fixings often look almost identical at a glance. The locking style and small dimensional differences determine whether the clip grips correctly, sits flush and can be removed again without damaging the panel.

Information to check before ordering

  • Original clip or clear photograph
  • Stem/hole diameter
  • Head diameter and shape
  • Overall length or engagement depth
  • Vehicle and trim location
  • Quantity required

Avoid the expensive shortcut

Similar-looking products are not automatically interchangeable. Use the product reference and application information together rather than selecting from appearance alone.

Important: Do not force an oversized fixing into a panel hole. It can damage the panel, distort trim or make future removal more difficult.
Understanding the range

Choose by the job, not just the product name

These broad groups explain the main differences to think about before you jump into the product directory.

Push-in clips & rivets

Common on bumpers, liners, undertrays and trim. Match stem size, head and locking style.

Panel & trim retainers

Used to retain interior and exterior panels. Correct engagement depth helps prevent rattles and loose trim.

Workshop fixing assortments

Useful where a range of commonly used clips or fixings is needed for general repair work.

Frequently asked questions

Quick answers before you choose

Can I match a trim clip by head diameter alone?

No. The stem or hole diameter and engagement mechanism are just as important.

Why should I keep an original clip?

It gives you a direct reference for dimensions, locking style and head shape when comparing replacements.

Should I replace every clip when removing a panel?

Not always, but damaged, stretched or brittle clips should be replaced so the panel is properly retained.

Not sure which one you need?

Send Tanair the product reference, vehicle or equipment details and a clear photograph where useful. We can help you narrow the correct option before you order.
