Air Lubricators for Compressed Air Systems

Air lubricators are used in compressed air systems to introduce controlled amounts of tool oil into the airflow. This lubrication reduces friction between moving components and helps protect air tools, valves, cylinders, air motors, and other pneumatic equipment from premature wear.

Many pneumatic components require consistent lubrication to operate efficiently and achieve maximum service life. When lubrication is required, an air lubricator is typically installed as part of an FRL (Filter, Regulator, Lubricator) assembly. In addition to reducing friction, the oil mist helps flush contaminants from the system, preventing sticking and improving overall reliability.

Air lubricators should be installed in the correct position to ensure effective operation. They must be fitted so that airflow follows the direction marked “IN” to “OUT” on the unit and should always be installed downstream of the filter and regulator, but upstream of the equipment being lubricated.

Correct selection and installation of an air lubricator helps maintain consistent performance, reduces maintenance requirements, and extends the life of pneumatic components. If you need help choosing the right lubricator for your system, Compressed Air Systems UK is on hand to assist.
