Tanair ZLD5277 Zero Loss Drain
Electronic condensate drain designed to discharge collected liquid only when required, without wasting usable compressed air.
Zero-Air-Loss Condensate Drains
Zero loss drains detect collected condensate and discharge it only when required. Unlike timer drains, they do not open at fixed intervals when no liquid is present, helping reduce compressed air waste and unnecessary compressor running.
Choose the Correct Zero Loss Drain
Match the Airflow
Select from the total compressor or treatment-equipment capacity connected to the drain.
Check Operating Limits
Confirm the minimum and maximum working pressure before ordering.
Confirm Inlet and Outlet
Check thread sizes, orientation and the required discharge-line arrangement.
Alarm Requirements
Confirm whether a remote alarm output or monitoring connection is required.
How a Zero Loss Drain Works
Condensate enters the drain reservoir and is monitored by an electronic level sensor. Once the liquid reaches the discharge level, the valve opens. It closes again before compressed air escapes, providing automatic condensate removal without routine air loss.
- Discharges condensate only when liquid is present.
- Reduces compressed air waste compared with timer drains.
- Helps lower avoidable energy use and operating costs.
- Suitable for receivers, dryers, filters and separators.
- Supports reliable moisture control in unattended systems.
Installation and Maintenance Guidance
- Isolate and depressurise the equipment before installation or servicing.
- Install the drain in the correct orientation and follow the airflow or inlet markings.
- Confirm the electrical supply and alarm-output requirements.
- Keep the inlet free from excessive rust, scale, oil sludge and debris.
- Route condensate discharge safely to an approved treatment system.
- Use the test function regularly and check for blocked or restricted discharge lines.
Zero Loss Drain FAQs
What is a zero loss drain?
It is an electronic condensate drain that opens only when liquid is present and closes before compressed air escapes.
How is it different from a timer drain?
A timer drain opens at fixed intervals. A zero loss drain responds to the actual condensate level, reducing unnecessary air discharge.
How do I size a zero loss drain?
Match the drain capacity to the connected compressor or treatment equipment, working pressure and expected condensate load.
Where can a zero loss drain be installed?
Common locations include air receivers, refrigerated dryers, filters, separators and low points in compressed air systems.
Does a zero loss drain need maintenance?
Yes. Test operation regularly and inspect the inlet, valve, sensor and discharge line for contamination or blockage.
Does zero air loss mean zero condensate treatment?
No. It prevents compressed air waste during discharge, but oily condensate must still be collected and treated correctly.
