Space-Saving Recoil Hose for Compressed Air

Coiled air hose extends while you work and retracts towards its original shape when released, helping keep excess hose off the floor. It is a practical choice around benches, machinery and smaller workshop areas where a long straight hose would create unnecessary clutter.

The current Tanair range includes polyethylene and polyurethane options with 5mm, 6mm and 8mm bores, so the main buying decisions are hose material, internal diameter, working length and end connection.

Compact 5m PE Hose

Best for lighter-duty pneumatic connections, benches and short working areas where a compact 5mm bore suits the airflow demand.

10m PU Hose

Best where more reach and a more flexible polyurethane hose are useful for regular workshop movement.

Higher Airflow

The 8mm-bore AH10C/8 is the largest-bore option in the current range and is the stronger route where airflow demand is higher.

How to Choose a Coiled Air Hose

Check the Hose Bore

Internal diameter affects airflow and pressure drop. A 5mm bore is compact but more restrictive than 6mm or 8mm hose, particularly with higher-demand air tools.

Choose the Working Length

The range includes 5m and 10m hoses. Choose enough reach for the work area without adding more hose length than the application needs.

PE or PU?

Polyethylene hose provides a firm recoil action and compact format, while polyurethane is generally more flexible and is used on the longer 10m options in this range.

Check the End Connections

Some products use 1/4" BSP unions, while others are supplied with quick couplings or connector kits. Match the hose to your existing airline and tool connections.

Consider Tool Air Demand

Do not select hose by length alone. Check the air tool's CFM requirement, the compressor output and the pressure available at the point of use.

Allow for Recoil

Coiled hose works best where it can extend and retract without snagging on sharp edges, hot surfaces, vehicles or moving equipment.

Where Coiled Air Hose Works Best

Workbench Air PointsKeeps excess hose compact around benches and fixed working areas.
Garage WorkshopsUseful for blow guns, tyre equipment and compatible pneumatic tools.
Machine ConnectionsProvides a flexible connection where short-range movement is required around machinery.
Maintenance StationsConvenient for repeat-use air connections without leaving a long straight hose on the floor.
Compact Work AreasA strong option where floor space is limited and hose management matters.
Pneumatic EquipmentSuitable where the hose bore, pressure and connections match the equipment requirements.

Coiled Air Hose FAQs

What is the advantage of coiled air hose?

Coiled hose retracts when released, helping keep excess hose compact and reducing clutter around the working area.

What is the difference between PE and PU coiled hose?

The current 5m hoses use polyethylene, while the 10m products use polyurethane. PU is generally more flexible, while PE provides a firmer recoil action.

Which coiled hose has the largest bore?

The AH10C/8 uses an 8mm bore, making it the largest-bore option in the current live range.

Which hoses already have quick couplings?

The SA305 is supplied with a quick coupling and coupling body, while the AHK03 is supplied as a hose kit with connectors. Check each product page for the current supplied configuration.

Can coiled hose run any air tool?

No. The hose bore, length, compressor airflow and operating pressure must all suit the tool's demand.

Can Compressed Air Systems UK help me choose?

Yes. Call 0121 753 3330 with the tool, required working length, airflow and connection details.
