Oil-Free | Sound-Reduced | Dryer-Equipped Dental Air

Dr Sonic Soundproofed Air Compressors with Dryer

Soundproofed oil-free compressor packages with integrated air drying for dental surgeries, laboratories and other suitable clean-air applications, with 230V and 400V options for different air-demand levels.

Oil-Free Compression, Reduced Noise and Integrated Drying

The Dr Sonic ES packages combine VKM320 oil-free compressor technology, soundproof enclosures, internally protected receivers and integrated drying. The smaller 320 package uses a 50 litre receiver and 230V supply, while the higher-capacity 640 tandem package uses a 90 litre receiver and 400V supply.

Select between them by simultaneous air demand, available electrical supply, duty, installation conditions and the air-quality specification required by the connected equipment.

Dr Sonic 320-50V-ES-3M

Compact 2.2 kW / 3 HP package for 230V installations, combining a 50 litre receiver, soundproof enclosure and integrated double-column dryer. Manufacturer dental guidance describes it as suitable for approximately three to four dental units, subject to actual simultaneous demand.

Dr Sonic 640-90F-ES-6T

Higher-capacity 4.4 kW / 6 HP tandem package with two 3 HP pumping units, a 90 litre receiver, soundproofed covers and integrated drying. It requires a 400V supply and is intended for greater simultaneous dental air demand.

Dr Sonic Dryer-Equipped Compressor Comparison

Both packages use oil-free VKM320 compressor technology, sound-reduction enclosures and integrated drying. The main differences are air capacity, receiver size, motor arrangement, electrical supply and sound level.

Choosing and Installing a Dryer-Equipped Dr Sonic System

Airflow

Add the air demand of equipment that may operate together and allow sensible headroom. The 320 package is specified at 210 L/min, while the 640 package is specified at 420 L/min in the manufacturer dental compressor data.

Pressure

Both models are rated to a maximum of 8 bar. Confirm the required point-of-use pressure and allow for pressure loss through pipework, filters, dryers and other treatment components.

Electrical Supply

The 320 model uses 230V / 50 Hz. The 640 tandem model uses 400V / 50 Hz. Electrical protection, isolation and installation should be confirmed by a competent electrician.

Receiver Capacity

The 320 package uses a 50 litre receiver. The larger 640 dryer-equipped package uses a 90 litre receiver. Receiver storage supports system stability but does not replace adequate compressor capacity.

Noise

Manufacturer sound-pressure figures are 60 dB(A) for the 320 and 64 dB(A) for the 640, measured at 7 metres. Actual sound depends on room acoustics, ventilation and installation position.

Duty and Installation

Allow ventilation and service access, avoid recirculating hot discharge air and confirm that the expected duty and ambient conditions are appropriate for the selected compressor package.

Drying and filtration

The integrated dryer helps manage moisture within the compressed-air package, but the complete treatment arrangement still needs to match the required air quality. Depending on the application, additional filtration, drainage, monitoring or point-of-use treatment may be required.

Dental and medical application considerations

Oil-free compression and an integrated dryer are useful system features, but they do not mean that a complete installation automatically satisfies every dental or medical air-quality requirement. Final suitability depends on airflow, pressure, drying performance, filtration, receiver and pipework condition, maintenance, validation and the requirements of the connected equipment or applicable project standard.

Need to meet a defined dental or medical specification? Treat the compressor as one part of the complete air system. If an installation references HTM guidance, equipment-manufacturer requirements or another standard, the complete system should be designed and assessed against that requirement.

Dr Sonic with Dryer FAQs

What is the main difference between the 320 and 640 dryer-equipped models?

The 320 is a compact 230V, 2.2 kW package with a 50 litre receiver and 210 L/min stated airflow. The 640 is a 400V tandem package with 4.4 kW total power, a 90 litre receiver and 420 L/min stated airflow.

Do both models include drying?

Yes. Both are ES dryer-equipped Dr Sonic packages. The 320 is described by the manufacturer with an integrated double-column dryer, and the 640 is supplied as an integrated dryer package.

Which model is suitable for more dental chairs?

The manufacturer positions the 320 for approximately three to four dental units and the 640 for approximately six to eight. Actual sizing should still be based on simultaneous airflow demand, pressure, equipment requirements and future capacity rather than chair count alone.

Do the soundproof covers make the compressors silent?

No. The covers reduce operating noise. Manufacturer sound-pressure figures are 60 dB(A) for the 320 and 64 dB(A) for the 640, measured at 7 metres.

Does the dryer remove the need for filtration?

Not necessarily. Drying and filtration perform different functions, and the required treatment depends on the target air quality and the connected equipment. The complete installation should be specified as a system.

Are these compressors automatically compliant for every dental or medical installation?

No. Oil-free compression and drying do not by themselves establish compliance. The complete system and its maintenance or validation requirements need to satisfy the relevant application specification.
