The Dr Sonic 320-50V-3M combines a VKM320 oil-free compressor pump, soundproof enclosure and internally protected 50 litre receiver. It is designed for installations where oil-free compression, compact dimensions and reduced sound levels are important.

This version does not include an integrated dryer, so the complete air-treatment arrangement should be selected around the air-quality requirement of the equipment being supplied.

Use the 235 L/min / 8.2 CFM stated displacement as a starting point, then check how much air the connected equipment can demand at the same time and allow sensible capacity for leakage and future requirements.

Airflow, Duty and Installation Considerations

Airflow

Check the combined demand of dental chairs, laboratory tools and other connected equipment that can operate together. Receiver volume cannot compensate for a compressor that is undersized for sustained demand.

Pressure

The compressor is rated to a maximum of 8 bar. Confirm the actual pressure needed at the point of use and allow for reasonable pressure loss through pipework, filters and treatment equipment.

Electrical Supply

The 320-50V-3M is a 230V / 50 Hz machine. A competent electrician should confirm the supply, protective device, isolation and local wiring requirements.

Receiver Capacity

The 50 litre receiver provides compact air storage and helps moderate compressor cycling. The required storage capacity still depends on demand profile, duty and the wider installation.

Noise

The manufacturer states 60 dB(A), measured as sound pressure at 7 metres. Room acoustics, ventilation openings, mounting and installation position can change the sound experienced on site.

Duty and Ventilation

Provide adequate ventilation and service access around the machine. Repeated high-duty operation should be checked against the compressor duty, ambient conditions and the real air-demand profile.

Drying and filtration

This model does not include a dryer. Where moisture control, particle removal or further air treatment is required, correctly sized equipment should be selected for the required airflow, pressure and target air quality.

Dental and medical air-quality requirements

Oil-free compression is an important part of many clean-air systems, but oil-free compression alone does not mean that a complete installation automatically satisfies every dental or medical air-quality requirement. Drying, filtration, pipework, receiver condition, maintenance, validation and the requirements of the connected equipment or applicable project standard all need to be considered.

Planning a regulated or specialist installation? If a project references HTM guidance, a manufacturer air-quality requirement or another defined standard, the complete compressed-air system should be assessed against that requirement rather than relying on the compressor specification alone.

Is the Dr Sonic 320-50V-3M oil-free?

Yes. It uses the VKM320 oil-free compressor pump, so lubricant is not introduced through the compression process.

Does this Dr Sonic model include a dryer?

No. The 320-50V-3M on this page is the soundproofed version without an integrated dryer. A separate Dr Sonic dryer-equipped range is available for installations that require that configuration.

What electrical supply does it need?

It is specified for 230V / 50 Hz. Confirm the site electrical supply, protection and isolation with a competent electrician before installation.

How quiet is the soundproofed enclosure?

No. Chair count can be a useful application guide, but final sizing should be based on simultaneous airflow demand, pressure, duty, treatment equipment and the requirements of the connected dental equipment.

Does oil-free compression automatically make the installation compliant for dental or medical use?

No. The complete system must meet the required air-quality and installation specification, including any necessary drying, filtration, pipework, maintenance and validation requirements.
