Compressed Air Condensate Control

Internal Autodrains

Shop Tanair internal float drains for automatically discharging condensate from compatible air receivers, filter housings and compressed air treatment equipment.

Match the replacement drain to the existing connection size, outlet arrangement, housing design and intended compressed air application.

Internal Autodrains for Compressed Air Systems

Internal autodrains automatically discharge condensate made up of water, compressor lubricant and airborne contamination from compatible compressed air equipment. They reduce reliance on manual draining and help prevent moisture from accumulating inside the system.

Choose the Correct Internal Autodrain

Reference

Match the Existing Part

Use the current drain reference, equipment model and photographs where available.

Connection

Confirm the Thread Size

Check whether the installation requires the 1/2" or 3/8" version.

Outlet

Check the Discharge Port

Confirm the outlet-port size and the required push-fit discharge connection.

Compatibility

Do Not Match by Appearance

Similar-looking drains may have different threads, dimensions or operating arrangements.

How an Internal Float Drain Works

Condensate collects around the internal drain and causes the float mechanism to rise. Once the liquid reaches the operating level, the valve opens and discharges the collected condensate. The valve then reseals when the liquid level falls.

  • Automatic float-controlled condensate discharge.
  • No external electrical supply or timer setting required.
  • Compact design for installation inside compatible equipment.
  • Helps prevent water build-up and internal corrosion.
  • Reduces the risk of manual draining being missed.
Internal autodrains are designed for compatible equipment only. Always confirm the connection, dimensions and installation arrangement before ordering.

Installation and Maintenance Guidance

  • Isolate and fully depressurise the equipment before removing the existing drain.
  • Confirm the replacement thread and outlet arrangement before installation.
  • Keep sealing material clear of the valve and internal passages.
  • Route the discharge line safely to a suitable condensate-treatment system.
  • Test the drain for correct operation and leaks before returning the equipment to service.
  • Inspect the drain regularly for oil sludge, dirt and blocked discharge passages.

Internal Autodrain FAQs

What is an internal autodrain?

It is a compact condensate drain installed inside compatible compressed air equipment to discharge collected liquid automatically.

Does an internal float drain need electricity?

No. A float-operated internal drain works mechanically as the condensate level rises and falls.

How do I choose between the 1/2" and 3/8" versions?

Match the existing drain reference, inlet thread, outlet arrangement and equipment specification.

Can I select a drain by appearance alone?

No. Similar-looking drains may not be interchangeable. Confirm the thread size, dimensions and application.

Why can an internal autodrain stop working?

Common causes include oil sludge, dirt, a blocked outlet, damaged seals, incorrect installation or a restricted float mechanism.

Where should the discharge line go?

Route it to a suitable condensate collection or oil-water treatment system in accordance with site requirements.
