Pneumatic Pressure Control

Air Regulators

Shop industrial Tanair air pressure regulators for stable, adjustable downstream pressure control across workshop and industrial pneumatic systems.

Choose the correct regulator by BSP connection, required airflow, inlet pressure, outlet-pressure range and the equipment being supplied.

Industrial Air Pressure Regulators

Air regulators reduce a higher supply pressure to a controlled downstream pressure and help maintain that setting despite normal inlet-pressure fluctuations. Correct pressure control protects tools and machinery while supporting consistent operation.

Choose the Correct Air Regulator

Connection

Match the BSP Size

Confirm the inlet and outlet thread size before ordering.

Airflow

Check Flow Capacity

An undersized regulator can cause excessive pressure drop under load.

Pressure

Set the Correct Outlet

Match the downstream pressure to the tool or machine requirement.

Gauge

Confirm Gauge Fitment

Use a compatible gauge to monitor the regulated outlet pressure.

How an Air Pressure Regulator Works

Compressed air enters the regulator at the higher inlet pressure. The adjustment spring, diaphragm and valve mechanism reduce the pressure and maintain the selected outlet setting as demand changes within the regulator's operating capacity.

  • Reduces supply pressure to a controlled downstream level.
  • Protects air tools, valves, cylinders and hoses from excessive pressure.
  • Helps provide consistent tool speed and process performance.
  • Can reduce unnecessary air consumption where pressure was previously too high.
  • Provides straightforward adjustment using the regulator knob.
Set the pressure while air is flowing through the system. A static gauge reading may not show the pressure drop that occurs when the tool or machine is operating.

Installation and Adjustment Guidance

  • Install in the direction shown by the airflow arrow.
  • Use a regulator with sufficient flow capacity for the application.
  • Fit a compatible pressure gauge where accurate adjustment is required.
  • Turn the adjustment knob clockwise to increase outlet pressure.
  • Turn the knob counter-clockwise to reduce the setting.
  • Lock the adjustment mechanism after setting, where the model provides this feature.

Air Regulator FAQs

What does an air regulator do?

It reduces a higher supply pressure to a lower controlled outlet pressure for the connected tool or pneumatic system.

Can I select a regulator by thread size alone?

No. Also check the required airflow, inlet pressure, outlet-pressure range and application.

Why does outlet pressure fall when a tool runs?

The regulator, pipework or hose may be undersized, restricted or unable to supply the required airflow.

How should I adjust the outlet pressure?

Adjust the regulator while air is flowing. Turn clockwise to increase pressure and counter-clockwise to decrease it.

Should the regulator be fitted before or after a filter?

It is commonly installed after suitable filtration so contamination does not damage the regulator mechanism.

Do I need a pressure gauge?

A compatible gauge is strongly recommended where the outlet pressure must be set and monitored accurately.
