How to Size a Refrigeration Dryer
A dryer should not be selected from compressor motor power alone. Start with actual delivered airflow and then account for the real operating conditions.
Actual Airflow
Use the compressor's delivered CFM rather than motor kW or theoretical displacement.
Working Pressure
Dryer capacity changes with pressure, so apply the manufacturer's correction factor where required.
Inlet Temperature
Warmer compressed air carries more moisture and can significantly reduce effective dryer capacity.
Ambient Temperature
High compressor-room temperature can also reduce dryer performance and must be considered.
