Adsorption Dryers
Achieve exceptionally dry compressed air with Omega OM-A-DRY heatless regenerated adsorption dryers from 4 to 120 CFM for industrial, process and specialist applications.
Omega OM-A-DRY Adsorption Dryers
Adsorption dryers, also known as desiccant air dryers, are used where compressed air needs to be significantly drier than the level normally achieved by a refrigerated dryer.
The current OM-A-DRY range contains nine heatless regenerated models from 4 to 120 CFM, with a standard pressure dew point of -40°C and alternative -25°C and -70°C options depending on model and specification.
Correct selection must consider required downstream airflow, working pressure, inlet conditions, target pressure dew point and the purge air consumed during regeneration.

9 Models
The range provides capacities from 4 to 120 CFM before correction factors and regeneration demand are applied.
How a Heatless Adsorption Dryer Works
The dryer uses two desiccant-filled columns operating alternately. One column dries the compressed air under pressure while the second regenerates using a portion of already dried compressed air at approximately atmospheric pressure.
The columns then switch duty so the drying process can continue while the saturated desiccant is regenerated.
How to Size an Adsorption Dryer
Required Downstream Flow
Start with the actual airflow the process requires after the dryer.
Purge-Air Demand
Allow additional compressor capacity for the dry air used to regenerate the desiccant.
Working Pressure
Confirm the operating pressure and apply the relevant manufacturer correction factors.
Required Dew Point
Establish whether the process requires the standard -40°C PDP or another available specification.
When Should I Choose an Adsorption Dryer?
Adsorption drying is appropriate where moisture remaining after conventional refrigeration drying would still create a problem.
- Moisture-sensitive manufacturing or process equipment
- Instrumentation and control-air applications
- Critical production processes requiring very low dew points
- Pipework or equipment exposed to temperatures where residual moisture could freeze
- Applications where a refrigerated dryer cannot achieve the required pressure dew point
Protect the Desiccant with Correct Filtration
Adsorption media should be protected from liquid water, oil aerosol and particulate contamination. The precise filtration arrangement should follow the dryer specification and the air-quality requirement of the process.
Before Installing an Adsorption Dryer
- Confirm required downstream airflow
- Allow for regeneration purge-air consumption
- Confirm normal and maximum working pressure
- Establish the required pressure dew point
- Check inlet and ambient temperature limits
- Provide the required pre- and after-filtration
- Confirm electrical supply and connections
- Provide condensate management where required upstream
- Allow access for filter and desiccant servicing

Adsorption Dryer FAQs
How many Omega adsorption dryers are in this range?
There are nine OM-A-DRY models, from OM-A-DRY06 through to OM-A-DRY200.
What airflow range do they cover?
The nominal model range covers approximately 4 to 120 CFM.
What pressure dew point can they achieve?
The current product information lists a standard -40°C pressure dew point, with -25°C and -70°C options depending on model and specification.
What is purge-air consumption?
It is the portion of already dried compressed air used to regenerate the desiccant. This air is not available to the production system and must be included in system sizing.
Do adsorption dryers need pre-filtration?
Yes. Suitable filtration is important to protect the desiccant from liquid water, oil and particulate contamination.
What operating pressure range is listed?
OM-A-DRY product information lists an operating pressure range of 4 to 16 bar.
Can Compressed Air Systems UK help size and service an adsorption dryer?
Yes. Installation, filtration, commissioning, planned servicing, desiccant replacement and technical support are available subject to equipment and site requirements.
