Tanair Diesel Compressors

The Tanair diesel range is designed for demanding applications where mains electrical power is not practical. Current models include Yanmar-powered basemount and receiver-mounted configurations, with recoil and electric-start arrangements available on selected units.

Yanmar PowerDiesel engine technology used across relevant Tanair models.
Belt-Driven DesignIndustrial belt-driven compressor format for suitable heavy-duty applications.
Multiple ConfigurationsBasemount and receiver-mounted formats for different installation requirements.
Starting OptionsElectric and recoil-start options are available depending on the model.
Service SupportParts and service support available through Compressed Air Systems UK.
Remote OperationDesigned for applications where a suitable mains electrical supply is unavailable.

Typical Applications

Construction & Civil WorkSite compressed air where mains electrical power is not available.
AgricultureMaintenance and pneumatic-tool work in remote farm locations.
Mobile ServiceVehicle-based engineering, tyre, maintenance and repair applications.
Remote WorkshopsTemporary or semi-mobile compressor installations away from a suitable electrical supply.
Infrastructure WorkCompressed air for suitable tools and maintenance tasks on outdoor sites.
Backup / Temporary AirTemporary site support where the selected machine has the required airflow and pressure.

How to Choose the Right Diesel Compressor

AirflowSize from the delivered airflow required by tools or machinery operating together.
PressureConfirm the required working pressure at the point of use.
RuntimeCheck expected daily operating hours and whether the selected model suits the duty.
Receiver RequirementDecide whether stored air is required for short peaks and compressor cycling.
Starting MethodConfirm whether recoil, electric start or a particular site arrangement is required.
Mobility & MountingConsider lifting, vehicle installation, footprint, weight and vibration isolation.

Basemount vs Receiver Mounted

FormatTypical UseImportant Considerations
BasemountVehicle, skid or system integration where a separate receiver arrangement is available.Mounting, vibration isolation, receiver, controls, airflow and connection design.
Receiver MountedMore self-contained site package with local stored air.Receiver capacity, dimensions, transport, weight and required continuous airflow.
Receiver size does not increase compressor CFM. It provides stored air and can help with short-duration peaks, but continuous demand must still be within the compressor's delivered airflow.

Important Diesel Engine Safety

Never operate a diesel-engine compressor indoors, in an enclosed space or where ventilation is inadequate. Diesel engines produce exhaust gases including carbon monoxide. Exhaust must be safely dispersed and the manufacturer's operating instructions followed.

Keep hot exhaust and engine components away from combustible materials, maintain stable positioning, and follow safe refuelling, servicing and shutdown procedures.

Diesel, Petrol or Electric?

DieselStrong route for rugged site or mobile applications where diesel power suits the operating environment.
PetrolUseful for mobile and off-grid applications where a petrol-powered package is preferred.
ElectricUsually the better option for indoor workshops and fixed sites with a suitable electrical supply.

Diesel Air Compressor FAQs

What are diesel air compressors best suited to?

They are primarily suited to site, mobile and remote applications where a suitable mains electrical supply is not available.

Which engines are used in the Tanair diesel range?

Relevant Tanair diesel compressor models use Yanmar diesel engines. Check the individual model specification before ordering.

Can a diesel compressor be used indoors?

No. Diesel engine exhaust contains carbon monoxide and other harmful gases. Engine-driven compressors should not be operated indoors or in inadequately ventilated spaces.

Does a larger receiver increase airflow?

No. A receiver stores air but does not increase the compressor's continuous delivered airflow.

Can you help size a diesel compressor?

Yes. Send the required airflow, pressure, tools or application, expected runtime and whether you need basemount or receiver-mounted configuration.

Need Help Choosing a Diesel Compressor?

Tell us the required CFM, working pressure, application, runtime and whether you need a basemount or receiver-mounted package.
