Browse the Full Filter Range by Capacity

Select a filter with sufficient capacity for the compressor’s actual delivered airflow. A sensible margin can reduce pressure drop and provide capacity for demand peaks or future system growth.

High Efficiency Filter Buying Guide

Contamination within compressed air can include water, oil aerosols, oil vapour, rust, pipe scale and solid particles. Correct filtration helps protect pneumatic equipment, maintain air quality and reduce avoidable production problems.

Filter Type Best For Typical Role Important Notes
3 Micron Pre-Filter General workshops, compressor rooms and bulk contamination removal First filtration stage Normally installed before finer filtration or selected air-treatment equipment
1 Micron General-Purpose Filter Air tools, garages, tyre equipment and pneumatic machinery General particulate and aerosol reduction Suitable where improved general air cleanliness is required
0.01 Micron Fine Filter Paint spraying, CNC equipment, instrumentation and precision applications Fine coalescing filtration Should normally be protected by suitable upstream filtration
Oil-Removal Filter Sensitive production, specialist finishing and extremely clean air requirements Final oil-removal stage Correct upstream filtration and system design remain essential
Activated Carbon Filter Applications requiring reduced oil vapour and improved final air quality Final activated-carbon treatment Not a substitute for correctly sized pre-filtration and moisture control

What We Supply

  • Complete general-purpose compressed air filters.
  • Oil-removing compressed air filters.
  • Activated carbon filters for final air treatment.
  • High-efficiency pre-filter and post-filter assemblies.
  • Filtration capacities from approximately 20 to 1700 CFM.
  • Technical guidance for matching airflow, filtration grade and connection size.
How should a compressed air filter be sized?

Select the filter according to the compressor’s actual delivered airflow at the intended operating pressure. Do not select from motor kW or connection size alone. Allow a sensible capacity margin where possible.

Why should I allow spare filtration capacity?

Spare capacity can help reduce pressure drop, manage temporary demand peaks and provide additional room for future system growth. An undersized filter can restrict airflow and increase energy consumption.

Can I choose a filter using only the BSP connection size?

No. A filter may physically fit the pipework but still be too small for the airflow. Confirm the compressor CFM, working pressure, pipe size, required filtration grade and operating conditions.

Do I need more than one filter?

Many compressed air systems use staged filtration. A pre-filter removes larger contamination before a finer coalescing filter, oil-removal filter or activated-carbon stage. The exact arrangement depends on the dryer, compressor and required final air quality.

Where should the filters be installed?

The correct position depends on the dryer technology and required air quality. Pre-filtration is often installed upstream of treatment equipment, with finer filtration downstream. Follow the manufacturer’s installation guidance.

How often should the filter element be replaced?

Replacement frequency depends on operating hours, contamination, pressure drop and manufacturer guidance. Inspect filters regularly and replace elements before restriction or contamination affects performance.

What should be checked before ordering?

Confirm the compressor airflow, operating pressure, existing housing model, connection size, filter grade, element code and required final air quality. Where uncertain, send photographs and existing product references to our team.

High Quality Compressed Air Filter Housings

Our compressed air filter housings are engineered for reliable removal of oil, water, particulates and gaseous aerosols from compressed air systems. Designed for both efficiency and economy, these filter units deliver high-performance filtration while helping to reduce pressure drop and energy consumption.

Manufactured from high-grade die-cast aluminium, each housing is treated internally and externally with Alu-Chrome protection and finished in a tough epoxy baked coating in RAL 5015 compressed air blue. This dual-layer protection provides excellent corrosion resistance and long service life, even in demanding industrial environments.

Key Features

  • High-grade aluminium die-cast filter housings.
  • Internal and external Alu-Chrome surface treatment.
  • Epoxy powder-coated finish in RAL 5015 compressed air blue.
  • High-efficiency brass automatic drain assembly with zero air loss.
  • Optional electronic or pneumatic differential pressure gauges.
  • 6 mm condensate discharge connection.
  • CE marked and PED 97/23/EC compliant.

High Performance Pleated Filter Media

Our compressed air filter elements use advanced pleated filter media, offering up to four times the surface area of conventional wrapped media. This significantly reduces pressure drop, improves airflow and lowers compressor energy usage.

With increased media surface area, service life is extended and maintenance intervals are reduced. Filtration efficiencies range from 99.99% to 99.99999%, with activated carbon grades capable of reducing oil vapour and aerosol carryover to as low as 0.003 mg/m³.

  • Pleated media for low pressure drop and energy savings.
  • Extended filter-element service life.
  • Activated carbon options for oil-vapour removal.
  • Polished aluminium end caps for strength and temperature resistance.
  • Aluminium end caps and brass tie rods fitted to all elements.

Operating Specifications

  • Maximum operating pressure: 16 bar.
  • Operating temperature range: 1°C to 60°C.

High Efficiency Filter FAQs

What airflow range is available?

The Tanair high-efficiency filter range covers approximately 20 to 1700 CFM, depending on the filter housing, connection size and filtration grade.

What is the difference between GP, OR and AC filters?

GP refers to general-purpose filtration, OR refers to oil-removing filtration and AC refers to activated-carbon treatment. Each performs a different role and may form part of a staged filtration arrangement.

Which filter is best for a workshop?

General workshops normally require a correctly sized pre-filter or general-purpose filter. Finer filtration may be needed for paint spraying, CNC equipment, instrumentation or other sensitive machinery.

Which filter is best for paint spraying?

Paint spraying generally requires suitable moisture control and staged fine filtration to reduce water, particles and oil aerosols. The exact arrangement should be matched to the paint equipment and required finish quality.

Can an undersized filter increase energy costs?

Yes. An undersized or blocked filter can create excessive pressure drop. The compressor may then need to operate at a higher pressure to maintain the required pressure at the point of use.

Can Compressed Air Systems UK install and service filters?

Yes. Compressed Air Systems UK can assist with system design, installation, pipework, filtration, condensate management, servicing and wider compressed air treatment requirements.
